Dr. Raney plays the new C. B. Fisk organ at First Presbyterian and directs the Chancel Choir and the Chancel Bell Choir. She came from Indiana to Santa Fe and began working at First Presbyterian in 1986. Indiana University provided her an excellent musical education where she received a doctorate, masters’ and bachelor’s degrees from that famous institution. Since graduation she has also studied with Guy Bover, Larry Palmer, Jane Clark, David Higgs, Olivier Latry, Daniel Roth, Helmut Rilling, Rene Clausen, Rodney Eichenberger, Alan Wickes, Andre Thomas, Anton Armstrong, Noble Weston, Bob Chilcott and countless other inspiring teachers in masterclasses.

In June 2008 Linda traveled to Umbria and Tuscany to direct the Santa Fe Women’s Ensemble in a concert tour. They sang in beautiful old churches and buildings in Poggio S. Ercolano, Assisi, Todi, Pistoia and Poretto. They were invited to sing for Mass at the Basilica of St. Francis.Linda played the famous Hermann Organ (1600) in Pistoia during one of the performances. In August 2008 Linda prepared the Santa Fe Symphony Chorus for the Santa Fe Symphony and Chorus’s Beethoven Marathon. This year the group recreated a concert that Beethoven produced in Vienna with orchestra, chorus, soprano soloist and with Beethoven as piano soloist. Beethoven’s concert was four hours long and in a very cold theatre. The Santa Fe version was divided over two nights and although Beethoven was not there physically, his spirit permeated the two evenings.

Linda is married to Raymond, an Episcopal priest who is Rector of the Church of the Holy Cross in Edgewood, NM. Jogging, hiking, yoga and buying fresh food at the new Santa Fe Farmer’s Market are her leisure pleasures.
