Environmental Concerns
Creation Care: Creation Care grew out of FPC’s commitment to respond to environmental crises at the time of the recent remodeling the church building. Funds were made available through a 10% pledge of the building campaign to current mission concerns, one of which was Creation Care.

The vision:
  • to inspire a transformation of consciousness to live responsibly in God’s world
  • to offer perspectives on what it means
  • to be truly human to explore the meaning of being part of God’s creation
  • to live lovingly and justly in creation and relationships, communal and personal
The program:
     Lifestyle Change Support and Education:
A committed group of members and friends meet monthly to provide education, support and sharing on lifestyle issues that respect the earth, each other and care for creation. Contact Margaret Dean.
Partners with Interfaith Power and Light:
Educational events, activities, celebrations and advocacy in partnership with the New Mexico Conference of Churches and the Presbytery of Santa Fe are sponsored and promoted for the whole community
     Acquistion of Learning Resources:
Working with the church library, learning resources for all ages on care and responsibility and respect for the earth are being acquired as educational tools for the future.
      Rooftop Garden:
Hands on opportunity to teach children about gardening and to encourage gardens in member’s homes is present on church rooftops. Flowers, herbs and vegetables are grown that can be shared or donated to local agencies.

Community Farm:
The John Stephenson Farm with the support of FPC and the community  of Santa Fe raises fruits and vegetables for local food programs.  Volunteers from the church as well as visiting work groups supply seasonal labor for the farm.  FPC has been working with John and his volunteers for many years.
